The Living Bridge

An award-winning biophilic multifunctional building on the Green School Bali campus. Designed by students with the guidance of Mizzi Studio.

Co-Head of Student Design Team, Head of Tech. 2023 - 2025.

This project, started in late 2022, was a redesign of “The Bridge” (shown to the right), a co-working / community / presentation space on the Green School Bali campus. It’s dedicated to parent-teacher-student collaboration.

With the guidance of biophilic architect Jonathan Mizzi (head of Mizzi Studio), our team (which shrank to about 8 students (Eamon O'Grady, Eden Rice, Kimaya Prashant, Alicja Kowalska, Mila Easthope, Brook Rice) and several community volunteers after the first year) underwent the full architectural process to produce and realize a sustainable, comfortable, technologically advanced, multifunctional space for the entire community.

Our proposals were approved and the funding for construction was earned through grants, donations, and "investments" from active community members. Eamon O'Grady and I completed the Digital Bridge and exhibited a snippet of what a day at the new Bridge would look like in the April 2025 Green School Bali expo.

The new Bridge opened on May 13th, 2025. Since then it has been featured on ArchDaily, Dezeen, Built by Nature, and other media outlets. It was shortlisted for the Built by Nature Prize 2025, nominated for the ArchDaily Building of the Year 2026 in the Educational Architecture category, and showcased at ChangeNOW 2025 in Paris as a model for sustainable innovation.
